Enuresis is is the chemical term for bedwetting  It is the involuntary urination during sleep after the age four or five when the person should be able to control his bladder . Infants and children will do unintentional urination,it is more normal for them. Many children achieve daytime control but not in the night time. The bladder control varies depending on the age. Some parents expect dryness at an early age. When the child is capable of holding the bladder but urinate unfortunately while sleeping is called nocturnal enuresis 

  Bedwetting is one of the most frustrating disorder of childhood. A child is expected to sleep dry at night without wetting the bed between age of 2 to 4.However at age 4 25 percent of children still wet the bed at age five 20 percent at age six 15 percent and age ten 8 percent at age fourteen 4 percent at age eighteen over 2 percent of adults still bedwet which is unusual . 

          Types of bedwetting  

There are two main types of bedwetting such as ;
  Primary bedwetting ;bedwetting since from the early stages of the child  The child not yet achieved nighttime dryness over a period of six consecutive months. 
  Secondary bedwetting ;bedwetting that begin after the child have been dry at night for a significant period of time atleast six months . 
Risk factors causing bedwetting .

Doctors do not know the actual causes of bedwetting  But there are various developmental condition 

Hormonal problem ;a hormone called antiduretic hormone causes the bladder to produce less at night time . In some cases the body does not produce the antiduretic hormone and results inthe increase production of urine when the person sleeps . 

Genetics;teens who bedwet often have parents who had the same problem at about the same age. Scientifically identified the specific genes that causes bedwetting  
Bladder problems ;your child may have small bladder or one which is not yet developed properly . This cannot be able to hold urine which is produced during night. 
Medical condition; some medical condition can also cause bedwetting, such medical condition include diabetes,  urinary tract abnormality,constipation and urinary tract infection . 
Psychological problem;some doctors believe that stress and tension canbe associated with bedwetting  

             Symptoms of bedwetting  

Many people will wet their bed only at night they will not have any other symptoms than bedwetting. But some psychological problems with nervous system or kidney may cause the signs and symptoms . 
     *Bedwetting during the day. 
      *urgency or burning during urination  
      *being unable to control bowel movements 
       *dribbling  staining and other unusual symptoms of urination. 

    Complications of bedwetting. 

Bedwetting can create some issues for your children including, 
 *  The child cannot go to a trip or stay outside home for social activities such as sleep over or camp. 
  * Rashes may occur in the bottom or in the genital area due to sleep in wet underwear for along time. 
  *Bedwetting can lead a person to feel low, guilty and embarrassed  

       Treatments and medication . 


*Bedwetting alarms ;to treat bedwetting in teens various types of bedwetting alarms are available most of the person respond to the alarm and make go to toilet . This alarm will go on when the person begins to wet the bed. 
  *manage what you eat and drink before bed;peopl who bedwet should manage their intake of foods and drink before sleeping. Avoid certain foods in the evening, foods which can irritates the bladder foods such as tea, coffee,chocolate and soda. 
 *imagine yourself dry;positive imagery can make you dry during the night when you think about waking up dry before going to bed . 

  Medical treatment for bedwetting . 

Bedwetting that are caused from other medical conditions canbe cured by doing medication. bedtime  

  *the drug dismopressin and imipramine reduce urine production at night it is given orally or as a tablet but only for children more than 8 years old. 
 * if your bladder is smaller an anticholinergic drugs such as oxybutynin can be used to reduce bladder contraction and to increase bladder capacity,it is used along with other capsules . 

         Prevention of bedwetting . 

*Wake your child several times to go to toilet for urination 
*encourage your child to urinate before bedtime  

*Avoid beverages and food that contains caffeine before
